Usually when the guy falls to one knee and pops the question that many of us women have dreaming about since we were kids, the way he does it is less important than the fact that he did it! However, everyone and of course your mother will ask you to recant the moments before the big question. So if nothing else...planning the engagement with a little imagination will make for a great story.
Location certainly takes a bit more planning and budgetary requirements but there is just something about the Eiffel Tower that says romance. There are places that yield the same response like on top of a Ferris wheel, the beach, or a park.

Men love popping the question at dinner in a restaurant. Instead of trusting the wait staff to serve your diamond ring on top of the cherry flambé it might be safer to serve the dessert with a message written on a spoon.
