“A phrase began to beat in my ears with a sort of heady excitement: ‘There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy, and the tired.’”

Sorry Gatsby fans: Baz Luhrmann’s theatrical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby has been pushed back to next summer. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the mysterious Jay Gatsby, was originally slated to be released this December, where it would face competition from the highly anticipated Tarantino film, Django Unchained. The Warner Bros. international distribution chief released a statement saying that studio believes that the Gatsby movie will be a “perfect summer movie” worldwide.

The delay will allow the studio and creative team to add more music, 3D effects, and allow more time for editing. This also allows more time to compose a soundtrack fitting for the film.

The Great Gatsby, which takes place in the 1920s, and discusses the American dream, materialism, and social morality in the summer of 1922 in New York City. The story follows a young Minnesotan named Nick Carraway (played by Tobey McGuire, Spiderman) who moves to New York to learn the bond business. The movie also stars Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton as Daisy and Tom Buchanan, Isla Fischer as Myrtle Wilson, and Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker.
