Today’s two grammar tips:
- When you’re writing out a date, don’t use the ordinal form of the numeral. In other words, write “Today is June 19,” not “Today is June 19th.” It is correct, however, to write, “Today is the 19th.”
- Use italics or underlining for foreign words. Either of these is correct:
- I ordered beef. My French friend ordered the same, but he called it boeuf.
- I ordered beef. My French friend ordered the same, but he called it boeuf.
