Grammar Friday

By Pjfaur @peterfaur

Grammar FridayToday’s two grammar tips:

  • Strike unnecessary words from your writing. Here are some examples: I washed all of my clothes. This is some kind of a cat, but I can’t remember its name. We’re all out of detergent. I can’t decide whether or not to go to the concert.
  • Always check your math when you write. You look careless when you write, “The latest poll said 54 percent will vote for Dewey, 44 percent will vote for Truman, and 5 percent are undecided.” (I know this is an editing tip, not a grammar tip, but it’s definitely worth mentioning!)
