A drunken Grama Niladhari was arrested for throwing a child into a canal.
The child (8) has been sitting near a canal watching an elephant given a bath when the suspect, 54, has lifted the child and thrown him into the water. The child has sustained a bone fracture.
The suspect is the Grama Niladhari of Udapola division, Polgahawela. The suspect was produced before the magistrate yesterday (18).
