GQ Joins list of legacy media outlets joining NFT Bandwagon

Men’s magazine GQ is starting a new NFT collection that will give holders access to its GQ3 community and special items.

GQ, a men’s fashion magazine, has put out its first-ever NFT collection, which has 1,661 pieces that were created by an algorithm.

The collection, called “GQ3 Issue 001: Change Is Good,” will include work by Chuck Anderson, Serwah Attafuah, Kelsey Niziolek, and REO.

According to the release, each artist developed more than 100 “traits” that were blended algorithmically to form the collection’s pieces, which were then curated by hand to form the final collection.

The drop will include a magazine subscription, a merchandise box, unique GQ3 merchandise, and a ticket to a GQ3 party in New York City. In addition, users will have access to an unique section of the GQ3 Discord as well as priority access to future NFT drops.

The magazine launched the GQ3 Discord server in May 2022 for streetwear and sneaker lovers.

Each NFT will be sold for 0.1957 ETH, or approximately $330 at current prices. The collection begins on March 8th.

Legacy magazines and NFTs

This is not the first time that prominent media outlets have joined the NFT.

In August 2021, Vogue Singapore and Fortune Magazine launched their NFT collections for the first time. Music and culture magazine Rolling Stone has released not one but two NFT drops in collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Cub (BAYC).

Unfortunately, not all participants have received positive feedback from the crypto community as a whole.

News network CNN shuttered its NFT project called “The Vault,” which offered NFTs that remembered important news events.

Some people in the project’s Discord community called the project’s end a “rug pull” because it had once promised that merchandise and perks were “coming soon.”
