School Bus Fleet Tracking

Mumbai: 1,500 school buses to get CCTVs, GPS

Mumbai: 1,500 school buses to get CCTVs, GPS

In Mumbai, India, the School Bus Owners Association, schools, and parents have recently ended their dispute with an agreement to tighten security measures. A compromise was met that will allow the deployment of CCTV and GPS tracking technology throughout pupil transportation fleets. This was all necessitated by a recent spate of student molestations perpetrated by the very school bus attendants charged with the well-being of the children while in transit. The prevention of such senseless and inhumane acts is a perfect example of the power that tracking technology puts in the hands of its users.

Problems Plague California’s Flawed GPS Monitoring Program

This is a prime example of the problems that can arise if proper due diligence is not conducted when choosing a GPS tracking product or service. In situations as critically important as monitoring criminal offenders, devices should receive a battery of pre-testing and undergo deployment in a pilot program to simulate real-world tracking conditions.

There have been countless recent articles highlighting the deficiencies with monitoring offenders in California, and it seems that the majority of the problems could have been avoided by taking some simple steps before the program was initiated. From what we’ve seen and read, the crux of the issue is with offenders simply severing the device “bracelet”, without immediate SMS violation alerts being sent to the proper predetermined corrections personnel. This is a big no no as it is completely avoidable. Either the proper training on the tracking system wasn’t facilitated, or the D.O.C failed to heed the training and properly configure the system. In any event, there is plenty of blame to go around.
