Located in Mandaluyong City, Goryo's Coffee ALA EH offers homemade Tamales or Suman sa Lihiya as they call it in Batangas and Quezon. Their choices of toppings include santan (Minatamis na bao), latik and budbod (toasted coconut) or fresh niyog with budbod and sugar with sesame seeds.
I prefer the santan, latik and budbod. Here's a closer look.
Looks good, right? It's delicious, too and I can attest to that. In fact, upon delivery, we consumed half so about six suman sa lihiya. Then I kept the rest in the fridge overnight and steamed the following day. Their suman is indeed made of quality ingredients because the texture is still chewy like the day before.
It's also worth mentioning that the best partner is Goryo's Coffee Ala Eh Kapeng Barako. I use a French Press to brew my coffee so I prepared it like I normally do. But if you don't have one, there is an instruction in the packaging.
You just add one heaping spoon of ground coffee to 2 cups of boiling water. Let it boil for 1 minute then turn off the heat letting it brew for 3 to 5 minutes before straining. Then you can add sugar to taste.
Honestly, Goryo's Kapeng Barako is rich and flavourful as it is. Yep, I tasted it before adding a teaspoon of milk as well as a teaspoon of sugar just to see the difference. I like both versions though. The coffee lover in me appreciates Goryo's Kapeng Barako.
