This chart was made from a recent Gallup Poll. That poll (taken between September 25th and 30th of a random national sample of 1,252 adults, with a 4 point margin of error) was done to determine the most important issues for working women -- and they asked the question not only of working women, but also women in general, men, liberals, moderates, conservatives, and all adults.
The chart shows the top five issues -- but note that every single group polled listed equal pay for equal work as the top issue. All the other issues paled in comparison to that one. That makes me wonder -- why do the Republicans oppose making equal pay for women a reality? Are they really willing to toss away the votes of women (and the men who care about the women in their lives)? It certainly looks that way.
Frankly, I don't understand how anyone can oppose guaranteeing women equal pay to men for equal work. It just doesn't make sense. Are Republican men so insecure that they cannot let women make an equal salary? Or are they just afraid to give up the male privilege they were lucky enough to be born with? They should be ashamed of themselves.
