Google has added a new " zoom to search " feature to the Google Widget and Google Assistant. This means that you can now hum, whistle or sing along to find any song on Google.
The company talked about the new functionality of a blog post, where it also says that you don't have to sing in the right tone to get the right song. So if you're not really a songbird, you can still find the right song or melody. You can still explore some of the best music search apps in 2020, but Google is now doing it without any additional apps.
The feature is available in English for iOS devices and 20 languages for Android users.
How do I use Hum To Search on Google?
There are two ways to use this feature. The first through Google Assistant and the other uses Google search widgets. Let's talk about both methods and how you can set up a shortcut to use Google "um to search".
To use the feature through the Google Assistant, invoke the Assistant by saying "Hey Google". Now say "What is this song" and start humming, whistling or singing the lyrics for about 10-15 seconds. You will get song matches on the results screen.

The second method is much faster and adds a "Sound detection" shortcut to your Android home screen. On your Android phone, go to Widgets (long press anywhere on the Home screen), scroll to the "Google" section, and find the "Audio Search" widget. Press and hold the widget to place it on the home screen. Once that's done, you can click on the newly created widget to trigger "search buzz".

Google uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to activate the "zoom to search" feature. The search giant says every tune has a fingerprint and Google can read it. It listens to the melody, the whistle or the lyrics, separates them from the surrounding noise, converts the sound into binary and performs it for possible matches.
The result is that you can now search for a song just by humming it to the Google Assistant. Siri has a similar feature that Apple announced when the HomePod Mini launched. This means that two of the mainstream voice assistants can now listen to a song and tell you the song.
