4.7.16What I wore to Hello Kitty afternoon tea at Cutter & Squidge. Photographed by Sophie at Somerset House.
The over-heater in me is somewhat glad for this murky non-summer we’re having in England at the moment. I can barely believe it’s July - the seventh month! - already and I don’t think the weather quite realises it either. Thankful for days where I can comfortably wear clothes on the London Underground without sweating off a lb of makeup ;)
So, so far this summer I’ve photographed a total of zero outfits and so far this summer, I’ve become besotted with culottes. Please stay in my life forever. An epic culmination of comfort and sartorial charisma (ya can’t say ‘no’ to a billowing pant), they’re the ultimate in failsafe notice-me style once you get over the initial shock of Not A Skinny Jean.
(Gingham racerfront top, Zara;
'Lou' wide legged culottes, c/o JOY;
Diamond-textured flats, Topshop;
Zip bomber jacket, really old from Warehouse;
Chloé Drew.)
This pair hails from JOY, a brand I’ve shopped from a handful of times, I just adore their easy breezy, carefree aesthetic. Me, down to a T. When the team offered me a chance to style up a piece of my own this season, I was of course drawn to this pair of wide legged culottes.
The easy, crinkly crepe fabric lends itself well to days lounging in the summer sky, inklings here and there of cool breeze and London’s warm temperaments. I paired them with a sweet gingham top (a favorite from Zara last summer) and little flats in a way that would only be apt for afternoon tea at the Hello Kitty pop-up at Cutter & Squidge. Full post on that coming soon. I really like the super wide legged silhouette of these ones, they add immeasurable drama to the look and doubles as a cute midi-maxi hybrid. Love love.
Oh! And I’m still absolutely in love with my Chloé Drew, of course. Just look at her! Hope you all have a sweet sweet Monday, I’m off for a day powering through an epic to-do list x
