Golden Knights Sweep Homestand with 5-0 Win Over Flames
The Vegas Golden Knights (7-2-1) kept their perfect home record intact, blanking the Calgary Flames 5-0 at T-Mobile Arena on Monday night.
Vegas wrapped up a four-game homestand with victories over Los Angeles, Ottawa, San Jose, and Calgary. Their 7-0-0 start at home is the best in team history, boosting their overall record to 7-2-1.
Alex Pietrangelo and Mark Stone continued their stellar performances, while Keegan Kolesar and Nicolas Roy combined for six points in the third period. Adin Hill secured his fourth win of the season with a 16-save shutout.
The first period was competitive, but Vegas scored the only goal. Pietrangelo notched his first of the season, marking nine points in his last four games.
Alexander Holtz extended his point streak to four games with a primary assist, and William Karlsson added his third point in two games.
Vegas found its rhythm in the second period, showcasing strong defense and outshooting Calgary 16-3. Stone, named the NHL’s First Star of the week, increased his point total with his fifth goal of the season off a pass from Jack Eichel, who capitalized on a turnover to extend Vegas’ lead. This goal marked Eichel’s 100th assist with the Golden Knights.
In the third period, Vegas maintained momentum, scoring three more goals and allowing just seven shots. Kolesar scored at 2:19 with a pass from Cole Schwindt, who replaced Brendan Brisson in the lineup.
Kolesar added another goal later in the period, followed by Roy’s goal just 15 seconds afterward. Kolesar recorded his first two-goal, three-point game, while Schwindt earned his second point against his former team.
Hill was flawless, stopping all 16 shots for his first shutout of the season and his third with Vegas.
The Golden Knights excelled in every zone, outscoring Calgary and limiting them to 16 shots. They demonstrated better control of the neutral zone, avoided mistakes, and managed the puck efficiently.
The standout second period saw Vegas dominate with no shots allowed until the last two minutes. Kolesar had an outstanding performance, with the fourth line contributing significantly.
Vegas played strong defense, pressed the forecheck, forced turnovers, and got goals from multiple lines. Hill delivered crucial saves when needed.
With their home record intact, outscoring opponents 39-16 over seven games, Vegas aims to carry this success to Los Angeles when they face the Kings on Wednesday night.
