Going To Bantayan Island

Sugar Beach

Bantayan Island, one of the most popular summer destinations in Cebu. The island is flocked by tourists during Holy Week not only for its vast white sand beaches but also for its unusual tradition of allowing the consumption of meat during this season. It is also home of the famous and delicious danggit (dried fish).
Getting there:

Bantayan, viewed from the Port

From Cebu City, you can take a bus at the North Bus Terminal to Hagnaya port (Php135 for non-aircon). Travel time is around 3 hours. I recommend taking the Air Conditioned Ceres Bus (Php150) early in the morning to avoid the heat of the noon sun. The bus normally have a  for 15 minutes stop at their terminal in the town of Carmen. Upon arrival at Hagnaya port, take a barge (Super Shuttle Ferry) to Sta. Fe, Bantayan (Php170). The boat ride normally takes 1 hour. At the port of Bantayan, pedicabs are readily waiting for passengers to take you to your destination resort. The beach resorts are near the port and fare should be around Php10 per person. Getting around the town of Sta. Fe is through pedicab. You can also rent a bicycle for Php150 per day. From Sta. Fe, you can also visit the towns of Madridejos and Bantayan (the largest municipality in the island).
