Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) Review

Posted on the 04 April 2024 by Caz @LetsGoToTheMov7

The titans that are Godzilla and Kong must actually work together to protect their own existence as well as the world when a deadly threat which was deeply hidden begins to resurface.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the next installment in what is now the Monsterverse and quite frankly it is one enjoyable ride, I am actually in a little bit of shock even starting this review by saying that in all honesty. I wasn’t expecting much from this film, even though I thought the last one was very poor Godzilla v Kong (2021) after the decent Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019).

Redemption I guess I can now call this as I really did find this enjoyable which I guess makes no sense considering we actually pick up with the events from Skull Island being linked with the characters and going forward in this one. Especially with Jia who had been living and was raised with Dr Ilene and living in the “real world” was a struggle with no friends and not fitting in at all.

That would all make more sense when we find out Jia’s purpose in the events of quite frankly saving the world. Enter Trapper and Bernie Hayes to make up the team who attempt to make a big difference, and they also bring the comedy and light hearted moments.

Everything around the titans and those we are about to meet are built up with Kong shown to have that softer side and possibly a way to make him the favorite in the eyes of the audience? I mean come on Godzilla never gets much screen time! I saw the film in IMAX and thought the CGI was really impressive from start to finish, with so many different color schemes used for different areas as well as the mashups into the real world locations.

This really is a fun popcorn cinema film that is for sure, and should probably have been more of a summer release for that reason?
