Go to This Years Royal Windsor Horse Show

By Djridings @fivethingsnow

The UK's greatest outdoor celebration of everything equestrian, Royal Windsor Horse Show, kicks off the 2015 British summer show season on Wednesday 13 - Sunday 17 May 2015.

A must-attend event for all horse and country lovers, over 3,000 horses and ponies will descend on Her Majesty The Queen's private grounds at Windsor Castle to take part in the five day show. International competitions take place in show jumping, dressage, carriage driving and endurance racing, and there are 130 national showing classes. Other highlights include spectacular displays from The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery and The Household Cavalry, the DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games and The Shetland Pony Grand National.

Beyond the competitions and displays there's plenty to see and do for all the family, with an old fashioned funfair and over 230 trade stands, selling a range of goods from all things equestrian to homeware, fashion and beyond. The beautiful grounds of Windsor Castle - only open to the public for the duration of the show - are perfect to sit down with a picnic and enjoy the variety of displays taking place with all the family. What's more, the opening day, dubbed 'Windsor Wednesday' is completely free for all visitors.

Now in its 72 nd year, Royal Windsor Horse Show will continue as a three-star event with total prize money in excess of £250,000. The ever popular Thursday and Friday evening dressage competitions will be a key feature in 2015 - and with evening tickets starting at just £8, it's the perfect place to go and relax with friends after work. Last year spectators were treated to Olympia Gold Medallist, Charlotte Dujardin winning the international dressage competition.

The Royal Family continues to hold great affection for the event - HM The Queen has attended every year since it began in 1943 and even competed at the show in her younger days. Other members of the Royal Family, including HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Princess Royal, have also taken part in the show's competitions. In recent years, the Queen has enjoyed watching many of her own horses compete in the showing classes.

Royal Windsor Horse Show is a fantastic value-for-money day out with free admission for all on the first day and free admission for children on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 May. Adult tickets cost £16 on Thursday 14 May and £20 on Friday 15 May. On Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May showground entry will be £25 for adults and £10 for children. Evening tickets are available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and start from £8. There are discounts for group bookings and family value tickets for two adults and three children for £60 on either Saturday or Sunday.

All tickets can be purchased on or telephone the box office on 0844 581 4960 from the UK and +44 (0) 121 767 4660 internationally. Tickets can also be purchased locally over the counter from Royal Windsor Information Centre, tel: 01753 743589 or online at
