When a parole officer's (LisaGay Hamilton) son goes missing in a probable drug deal gone awry, she enlists the help of one of her streetwise clients (Yolanda Ross), an old high school classmate in addition to the services of a half-blind private investigator (Edward James Olmos) to travel south of the border to investigate. The plot in John Sayles' Go For Sisters isn't always clear but the film is imbued with the humanity that marks most of his work, and the finale is excellent. Hamilton does not prove a strong lead but Olmos and Ross shine in support.
