This Organization ASG writer is never going to survive this week. If you don’t see me next week, you’ll know I became a zombie. (I’m lying, I actually have a few posts written in case that happens ^^)
Anyway, Noragami tells the story of Yato, who nicknamed himself the delivery god. Stuff happens and he loses his Regalia whom he needs to fight, struggles and finally finds a new one, while he also makes a new human friend.

That doesn’t seem too appealing does it? But the truth is that there is so much more to Noragami than just following the daily life of a god. After all, who can expect the daily life of a god to be normal?
And that’s the main asset of Noragami. As I’m writing this I realize that, in the end, nothing much has changed since the beginning, the world has been slightly saved, Yato still doesn’t have a shrine, Yukine is a bit nicer and Hiyori still is a half-phantom. Yet, Noragami still managed to be incredibly entertaining.
I know some people didn’t like it but my favorite part of the anime was the arc about Yukine, which must mean I like character development better than stories about saving the world. I should be ashamed of myself.
The whole story about Yukine really was interesting. I mean, through this story we understood a lot better how gods and their regalia worked together and the very special bond their share. It wasn’t just an arc about developing a character, it was also a world building arc and that is another thing I really like in anime.
The next arc was a bit less interesting in my opinion, maybe because it was also a bit shorter and thus the pace might have been a bit faster, too fast. It wasn’t hard to keep up but it still was too fast., it felt like they didn’t have enough time to finish everything properly. We still don’t understand everything about Yato’s past or Nora and the anime finished on that story and I found it a shame. Maybe that was because I wanted it to continue.
Where I cannot find a single word of complaint is when it comes to characters. Yato was a lot more interesting than it seems at first glance. I mean, his past self is completely different from who he is now. And his carefree way of doing this is kinda cute. The only thing I am sad about is that we didn’t get to see more of his past, I wanted to know what happened! With many details if possible.
Yukine too is interesting, probably more interesting in the parts of him that aren’t shown than in the parts that are. It makes him deep and cute and it makes your brain works and that’s always a good thing.
Hiyori too was a great character. This girl too has more secrets than she lets on, her passion for boxing for example. In the end, she might be the one who got the less development and I was sad.
Everyone is so great! I want to read the manga just to see them again!
Part of their greatness though is brought by voice actors. Obviously I would love Hiroshi Kamiya as Yato because he is one of the best at doing two-faced characters, he can sound scary and carefree and that’s perfect for a god. The one doing Hiyori is a bit more normal but Hiyori is the most normal one of them all so it’s great too.
I had my reservations about Yukine being Yuuki Kaji at the beginning. I swear I am going to have a Yuuki Kaji overdose one of these days, but his whiny voice actually fit Yukine so I guess it’s for the best.
Highly recommended, it is one of the strongest anime of the winter season 2014!
