With everyone talking about going back to school I just realized again I had graduated and was thus free from school forever. Know that I sympathize with everyone who has got to go back.
Then again, just like in Hataraku Maou-sama, the working world is not always sparkles and rainbows. Except when you are a Demon King, it seemed to helped Sadao. Said Sadao was in the middle of a battle against the good guys when he suddenly is sent with his general Asiel/Ashiya from Ente Isla to the human world. They are then faced with the necessities of human life, while trying to go back to their own world and slowly realizing they are not the only people from their world to be there.

This anime was not part of the ones I initially wanted to watch. I heard it was funny, then studied its plot a little more and got interested. I mean, having the Demon King Satan forced to work at a mysterious fast food restaurant for his own survival? It has a lot of potential for hilarious situations.
And it managed to use its potential very nicely.
I cannot say that I was constantly laughing, I cannot say that it was the best comedy either, but it was good enough for me to enjoy myself.
I have to say that the plot is not bad either. It is simple at first glance, a story of demons fighting against the good guys but it quickly becomes something more. Quickly the lines are blurred and you forget that Sadao is actually a frightening Demon King, you quickly find out that maybe the bad guys are not so bad after all and that some people in the “good” do not have such good intents. I really, really liked this aspect of the story.
I did not like the whole romance aspect so much. It sometimes felt like a borderline harem anime. It was not to the point of being annoying, and Sadao is a Demon King after all, and stereotypes say that girls like the bad guys, for once it almost was realistic. I disliked the fact that this aspect was left without conclusion more than the romance itself. I should get used to it after all these anime but I still am not.
When it comes to characters my favorite has to be Maou Sadao because he was, for once, a perfect hero. He is a good guy but only because it happens to fit his agenda of reigning over Earth. Working is just like that, it is necessary but it does not mean it cannot have a deeper meaning than just making money.
Ashiya was hilarious, the perfect hetare general who sometimes does something close to genius. Urushihara is the kind of guy I would just kick out of my house or force to work, but it was funny in this context.
As for the girls, they are pretty nice. Emi makes a nice heroine, she is strong and has resolve. She definitely is a tsundere but not an annoying one and just for this I think her character deserves some praise. Chiho on the other hand is a stereotypical nice girl but she seemed to change a bit over the course of the anime. Another good point.
All in all, this anime is full of good points, you should watch. (Else you might be targeted by Demons. Who knows?)
