Kuuki-sama has now finished her exams! Hopefully no more school for me! Hopefully …
Cuticle Detective Inaba is, as I’m sure you guessed, an anime that follow a detective guy named Inaba. The only thing that differentiates this Inaba from other humans is that he has been genetically altered and is now both human and dog. Also, he has a fetish for hair. It’s apparently important.

My summary might be a bit lacking: I did leave out the most interesting part, mainly that Inaba is the head of a detective agency and has two assistants, Yuta who loves cross dressing and Kei, who’s mostly normal. The three of them are helping the police capturing a dangerous criminal, Don Valentino, a goat whose regimen is a bit special, he needs to eat money.
If you remember, I covered the first episode back in the days, and I can’t say it was a bad first episode, it was pretty funny actually. The whole series is pretty funny if you think about it. The only problem I have found is that it didn’t quite manage to keep on being as funny as the first episode, because the surprise effect disappeared. (I have to say the ED on the other hand never grew old and still makes me laugh now.)
As far as actual plot is concerned, well, it wasn’t exactly the strong point of the anime, it was more like a bonus. Valentino was the running villain of the series, except he wasn’t quite the scary villain. He mainly served more like comedic relief, but he did plot interesting stuff. Actually, probably the most interesting stuff in the plot was that it was a good excuse to meet many, many crazy characters, who also plotted on top of the initial plot to the point you had no idea who was teaming up with whom anymore.
It might sound strange but I quite liked that in Inaba, because it was supposed to be a funny anime above all, and in any other case, not getting the alliances between the main characters anymore would have been slightly annoying.
Anyway, let’s talk about the characters. First, my favorite, mainly, the actual police officer Ogi. That guy was my favorite for a few reasons — first because he was definitely really badass, and second because his father moments were very cute. He was often pretty cute actually. Next up in the list is Don Valentino, not because he is a goat, but because he never gave up on fulfilling his objectives and I found that pretty awesome. And he also is a mafioso, that is something I like. I quite liked his family as well, especially Gabriella.
As for the main characters, well, for once I think I liked Inaba. Well, maybe saying I liked him is a bit pushing it because he was annoying sometimes, but I can’t say I disliked him either, nor can I say he was an awesome protagonist. He was OK I guess, nothing special but nothing bad either and at the very least he was funny to watch. His two assistants too were pretty interesting, Kei because he was so normal, Yuta because (s)he was so abnormal. The main characters trio was a perfect team if you want.
Now, to conclude, I did spend a nice moment watching Inaba but at the same time I don’t think I’d have liked it that much if I had marathoned it. So, only one episode at a time might be a good compromise.
