Go for Broke: Brothers Conflict

Posted on the 08 October 2013 by Kaminomi @OrganizationASG

Go4Broke_008I have been so busy lately, I don’t even know how I can still watch anime. Especially bad anime … (Noo, I’m totally not talking about Brothers Conflict…)(…I think I just spoilt my review…)

The story of Brothers Conflict is the same as any other otome game based anime you can find out there. There is a young girl, who suddenly has to live with many boys, and then things happen. Mostly, everyone falls in love with the girl. But wait! This time there is a catch: everyone is siblings.

How will they manage?!

I am not going to touch on the numerous moral issues that arise in this anime, though to be honest, it probably is one of the most questionable anime I have ever seen. If you are easily (or not so easily) offended, this anime is definitely not for you. It has incest. And borderline rape, a lot of it. More than I have seen anywhere else. (And yes I am watching Diabolik Lovers…)

Now that this is out-of-the-way let us start on the actual review.

I should start by talking about the plot, I will be done with that quickly because there is none. The whole anime is basically about how everyone is slowly falling in love while our heroine Ema is trying to adjust to her new life. That’s about it.

Obviously nothing gets resolved in the end, as it happens in pretty much all the otome game based anime you can watch. That’s just the way it is, you have to be very careful with rapid fangirls. To put it bluntly, there is no plot and their daily lives are boring.

About the characters now, well, things are getting a little better. Some of them are even a bit likeable. Though my favorite, Natsume, has issues, they are at the very least a little less visible than some of the others, he can control himself at the very least. It is not always the case. (I did say there was a lot of borderline rape in this anime didn’t I?) The heroine is your average heroine in the genre, bland and annoying, even more annoying that she never does anything. I am not even sure if her name has ever been said once. I had to look it up, and it did not ring the slightest bell. She just stands there and accepts everything and acts like everything is normal. I am not sure if any other heroine has always made me this angry before. To be completely honest, no one really gets any character development, no one changes, or at least not until the very last episode in which everyone finally starts to think that maybe this situation cannot last. But I am not sure it counts toward proper character development. The only thing I rather liked are the seiyuu, they are always the reason why I watch this kind of thing after all. Though it could have been done a lot better, their voices did not really sound natural, the ending song especially was hilariously bad. I guess this was an anime only for hardcore fans of Brothers Conflict the game, that is to say, not me and probably not you either. And even if you are curious, if you had to listen to me just once in your life, it is now. Do. Not. Watch. This.
