Community outreach is one of our core values and we are thrilled to be working with Sabrina DeVos and her Celiac Strong Camp on August 3, 2014. Sabrina reached out many moons ago when the gluten free chef market was just a thought and asked me to hold a cooking demo for the teen participants of this much needed summer camp. As the finale part of her Girl Scout Gold Award this is more than a passion project but the start of a life changing event that will continue to support and help teens dealing with celiac disease each and every summer. We cannot wait to join Sabrina and host our first our cooking demo as a team for the camp participants. Check out Sabrina’s bio below, her amazing interview with WROC- TV and visit her website to register your teen today.
All About Sabrina DeVos
I started Girl Scouts in 2002, when I was in Kindergarten and I was four years old, and my mom as our troop leader. I have had Celiac disease for ten years, diagnosed at six years old. My first gluten free camp experience was when I was eight years old at a camp in Rhode Island, which is about eight hours away from home. I have been attending every year since then. I love the experience so much that I thought it would be amazing to have other kids with celiac experience this too in this area. This is my Girl Scout Gold Award project. This has been my passion to share this experience with other celiac children. As a Girl Scout, I’ve gained leadership and organizational skills and feel I now have the tools to organize this great experience!
