Gluten Free Product Review: Glutino Product Roundup

By Calvin Eaton @glutenfreechef5

Food blogging has opened the door to a wonderful world and network of A+mazing bloggers, corporate sponsors and contacts. The success of this blog; driven by you my audience gives me the opportunity to try exciting new gluten free products before they hit the market. I originally started this blog as a way to share my life as a celiac and gluten free foodie. Never did I imagine things would take off the way they have.

There are so many awesome gluten free food blogs that help bring awareness to the need for businesses and food companies to expand their product lines and their reach to the gluten free community. The past year has led to a boom in gluten free awareness and many national chains and corporations creating and/or expanding their product lines to include gluten free options.

Glutino is one of the more renowned gluten free brands. They currently carry a wide variety of products and they continue to be committed to crafting excellent gluten free snack products. Glutino has an extensive gluten free line from breads and bagels, to chips, pretzels, crackers, and mixes.

I was given the opportunity to sample and review three of their latest offerings.

Their gluten free chocolate chip cookies have been improved to be softer than the predecessor. As far as store bought gluten free cookies go these are excellent. For those moments when you need a quick sweet and would rather not spend time whipping up a batch of homemade cookies, Glutino’s Chocolate Chip Cookies are a suitable alternative. They have a well rounded flavor and a texture that is equal to the Chips Ahoy or Keebler brands you may remember.

I love pretzels! But when I went gluten free I had to give up one of my favorite snacks since many gluten free brands taste meal-ly, bland, and are super expensive. That is until I got my hands on Glutino’s Gluten Free Pretzel Chips. What a novel idea to combine the awesomeness of a pretzel and a chip! These babies are addictive and I had to force myself to keep to one serving at a time. This is a snack that won’t burn a hole in your wallet on ruin your daily caloric intake. They clock in at about 140 per serving and are light and crispy with just the right amount of salt.

Glutino’s Shake and Pour Pancake Mix was what I was most excited to try. I rarely eat pancakes anymore and to now have a shake and pour mix where all you do is add water was enticing to say the least. One cup of water, shake and pour was all I had to do to get perfectly round and fluffy silver dollar pancakes. The blend of flours make these pancakes a close contender to the Bisquick and Aunt Jemima mix I used to love. They don’t quite have that light buttery sweet and vanilla taste that I like in my pancakes; but the convenience of a shake and pour mix outweighs the taste. They are certainly better than other gluten free pancake mixes I have tried and I would be open to using this product again.
