“Glory Be To God” Chance The Rapper Owned The Grammy’s

The 59th annual Grammy Awards aired last night on CBS, and Chi Town’s own, Chance The Rapper owned the night.  Chance The Rapper, real name, Chancellor Jonathan Bennett, was up for seven awards, and took home 3.  Chance won Best New Artist, Rap Album, and Rap Performance.  Then took the Grammy’s to church, and everyone at home, when he took the stage with Kirk Franklin, and Tamela Mann, along with a choir for a medley of “How Great” and “All We Got,” off his Grammy-winning “Coloring Book”project.

After winning Best New Artist, Chance took the stage and gave all glory to God!

“Glory be to God. I claim this victory in the name of the Lord,” Chance said in accepting his award for best new artist. “I want to thank God for my mother and my father, who supported me since I was young, for Kirsten, for Kensli, for all of Chicago, and I want to thank God for putting amazing people in my life.”

 Chance’s story is a story of victory, he garnered seven Grammy nominations after the Recording Academy, relaxed its eligibility rules last year to allow works released via streaming platforms.
