In this second unofficial meeting of Commonwealth Nations in 2014, two of Scotland’s leading street food exponents go head to head.
Representing India at this one-off pop-up restaurant in Shawlands’ Glad Cafe will be Babu Bombay Street Kitchen and fighting the West Indies’ corner will be Caribbean cooks Fire In Babylon. After all food is consumed, diners get to vote for their favorite dish, with the winning team being announced at the end of each sitting.

Babu Bombay Street Kitchen serve food Mon-Sat from their West Regent Street cafe, as well as at markets and events across the country. They create classic Indian street food, family recipes & home style cooking, using fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, no added preservatives and low oil content – always with a touch of spice! They often mix it up with a little Scottish influence now and then to create dishes that both veggies and meat-eaters love alike. Fire In Babylon can be found at various foodie events around Glasgow, serving Jamaican, Tobagonian and Trinidadian delights, often accompanied by the best roots and reggae DJs. Their mission statement is simple: to bring people together through West Indian food, music and culture. Over the next twelve months they’ll be hosting concerts, street parties, cook-ups and Caribbean style barbecues.
