Glasgow’s Name-to-know Joanne McGillivray Hits House of Fraser

By Theneonhub @theneonhub

Scotland has a rich fashion heritage. Known for its tweeds and traditional mills, the country has recently taken on a modernised fashion meaning – London-based designers Christopher Kane, Holly Fulton and Jonathan Saunders are all Scot-born and are currently London’s names-to-know. But it isn’t just the high-breed, designer names that are creating a storm: high street chain, House of Fraser is too.

From now until Christmas, House of Fraser will be hosting it’s ‘House of Fraser presents’ pop up shop. Located at the iconic Glasgow store, the chain will showcase three of Scotland’s emerging designers: luxury womenswear brand, Joanne McGillvray (2012 Scottish graduate of the year), Rebecca Torres and Saunt and Sinner. As a trio, each will be allocated a two week stint to hit the shop floor and present their collections. Such is a valuable opportunity as December is inarguably House of Fraser’s busiest time of the year.

We’re most looking forward to seeing what Joanne McGillivray has to offer. Recognised by Marks and Spencer earlier in the year, this young fashion enthusiast had her winning dress design produced and sold by the high street fashion giant. Her first collection, Russian Revolution, followed suite and has since appeared in OK! Magazine and Drapers. Made in Chelsea star, Millie Mackintosh has also taken a liking to this up-and-coming brand; Millie chose to wear McGillvray’s limited edition leather skirt on her hit blog, Style Diary. McGillvray’s first collection will be on sale at House of Fraser from December 17th – in our opinion, anything from this name-to-know is the ideal stocking filler for every fashionista.
