Glance is a Google-backed firm that recently acquired Gambit, an Indian start-up, to strengthen its position in the NFT market.
Glance & Gambit
Glance has made a number of noteworthy acquisitions in recent months, the most recent being the purchase of Gambit. The acquisition is intended to aid the company in strengthening and optimizing its mobile gaming products, as well as in delivering NFTs to a new generation of clients dubbed Gen Z.
Glance has lately shifted its attention to gaming, and in the past has cooperated with phone makers to deliver media and entertainment to Smartphone consumers. Glance gained momentum in 2021 after developing a series of popular casual games, and the company now has a presence on over 400 million devices.
Glance is one company that is not scared to acquire; they are continually on the lookout for smaller firms that might help them accomplish their development goals.
Glance has acquired Shop101 and Roposo in the past, with Gambit being the most recent acquisition. This is an extraordinary number of acquisitions for a company of its size and age.
Glance has gained a strong foothold in the ecosystem. Glance’s COO said that “almost 10 million individuals watch live game streaming on Glance each month.” As a result, we wondered, “How can we include live game shows into the platform as well?”
Glance NFT Push
Glance’s chief operating officer, Piyush Shah, confirmed the company’s acquisition of Gambit but refused to disclose financial terms of the transaction. According to Shah, the acquisition would allow the company provide NFT-based incentives and live game shows to its gamers, enhancing their gaming experiences.
“It will have utilitarian benefits — in that owning digital virtual assets will enable users to develop strong characters in games — and at the same time, these NFTs will be listed and traded on NFT marketplaces and exchanges to assist users in earning and owning,” Shah explained during a discussion about the potential benefits of NFTs for Glance users.
Glance has not said which blockchain it would utilize for its NFT debut, and Shah has not disclosed which firms the company plans to collaborate with.
Glance in the Web3 Space
Glance is still in the early stages of its Web3 push, but with the acquisition of Gambit, the company is better positioned to start and compete against established rivals. Glance plans to continue collaborating with game businesses, influencers, and players in the future.
Glance is now valued at $1.7 billion, and according to Yashashvi Takallapalli, CEO of Gambit, 2022 promises to be a fantastic year for both Glance and Gambit. “Over the coming year, we want to increase the number of monthly active players on Glance Games, owing to the combined capabilities of Glance and Gambit, as well as our belief that there is a game for everyone.”
