If you’re new to plant-based eating then knowing where to begin to create healthy filling meals can feel like a challenge, especially if you are used to centering a meal around meat or if you’re not a particularly experienced cook. The next challenge, of course, is coming up with enough vegan meal ideas to keep things interesting and your diet varied – and having the time to do both!
I’ve spoken plenty of times about lots of the delicious and readily-available healthy vegan snacks that are making a plant-based diet that bit easier to follow, but it’s equally exciting to hear there are other new companies making mealtimes easier both for new and for busy vegans. Give Kitchen is one such company, offering a range of lovingly prepared plant-based meals, snacks & desserts.
Now the UK’s first 100% vegan food delivery company, what makes Give Kitchen extra special though is that they are building a sustainable business model that gives back too.
Set up in May this year, Give Kitchen is on a mission to prevent cruelty to animals and humans. The founders of Give Kitchen recognise the importance of a plant-based diet for global food security and see the endeavour as the first step in a much bigger journey of working towards a better availability of nutritious, plant-based food for everyone – something they have incorporated into their business model right from the start. For every Give meal that is purchased, Give Kitchen will also donate a meal to someone who needs it and in the longer-term they hope to set up their own centres. Any profit from Give Kitchen is passed onto the GIVE 2040 Foundation so ultimately the running costs of the charity will be covered by the corporate side of things, allowing all donations to go directly to where they are needed.
Moving onto the food, Give Kitchen offers a selection of 22 Day Challenges, full three-week long meal plans that include lunch, dinner and healthy treats, and create-your-own Give boxes, which allow you to choose from their wholesome meal options. I tried out a Give box of seven meals and seven sweet treats. Here’s what I ate:
Row 1: Classic Falafel with Superfood Cous Cous Mix / Grilled Sausages with Sweet Potato Mash & Sautéed Spinach / Moroccan-Style Mock Duck with Superfood Mix / Roasted Cajun Pieces with Mixed Grains & Garlic PeasRow 2: Chinese Tofu with Vermicelli Rice Noodles / Mixed Bean Curry with Whole Grain Rice / Piri Piri Tofu with Superfood Cous Cous Mix
What I really loved about Give Kitchen’s meals was how packed full of ingredients they were – every dish had so many veggies and beans in them. The portions are very generous and I had leftovers from some of them so two Give meals tended to serve me for three mealtimes! Give Kitchen’s service is the perfect way to introduce yourself to plant-based meals that will fill you with inspiration for future cooking – it’s also a great option if you know you won’t be able to cook for a period of time but still want healthy, wholesome food.

I received a meal box from Give Kitchen for the purposes of this review but no other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
