Sri Lankan promising player Githmi Fernando entered the girls’ final at the ATF Under 14 Junior Tennis tournament which was played at SLTA courts yesterday.
Githmi had a straight-set win over Venuli Jayasinghe 6/1, 6/4 at the semi-final while Ivanka Samarasinghe who represented USA beat Seohyun Shin of Korea (6/4, 6/1) at the other semi final. Githmi and Ivanka will meet in their final scheduled to be held today (29).
Meanwhile, Om Verma of India defeated Saha Kapilasena of Sri Lanka (6/2, 6/3) in the boys’ semi-final while Louis Eliah Knese of Germany outclassed Sri Lankan Chenul Wickramasinghe (6/2,6/2) in the other boys’ semi-final. (D.R)
