It was never going to take long for Hollywood to remake Swedish thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo given its impressive worldwide box office results and the fact that it is based on the first novel in Stieg Larsson’s literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy, which altogether have sold 50 million copies in 46 countries and become a global phenomenon.
While Hollywood remakes wind up the movie purists, there’s no doubting that buzz is building for Columbia Pictures’ take on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The Hollywood studio promises Dragon Tattoo will be the first film in a three-picture adaptation of The Millennium Trilogy. The remake is directed by David Fincher (Se7en) and stars Daniel Craig (Casino Royale). The screenplay is penned by Steven Zaillian (Traffic). The second trailer dropped today. Here it is:
