Girl Sentenced To six years Imprisonment For Faking Her Kidnap In Ghana

A 29-year-old Ghanaian girl has been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for faking her personal kidnap in Takoradi within the Western Area.

Joana Krah was on Tuesday October 26, was handed the sentence by the Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court docket A on two counts of deceiving a public officer and publication of false information.

Ms Krah faked her abduction on October 22 in a bid to extort ¢5,000 from a relative.

Police say she conspired with two others to orchestrate the act after which a name was positioned to her godfather demanding the ransom.

After she pleaded responsible to the offences on Monday, October 25, 2021, she was arraigned earlier than the courtroom presided over by Michael Kojo Ampadu.

For the publication of false information, she was sentenced to 2 years in jail and for the cost of deceiving a public officer, she was sentenced to 6 years in jail to convey the whole sentence to 8-years.

Nevertheless, each sentences are to run concurrently and so she is to spend six years in jail.

The courtroom stated it took into consideration the truth that Joana is a primary time offender, she has a baby and the truth that she cooperated with investigators and reported herself to the police when the matter was reported to the police.
