The body of the 17-year-old girl who drowned in the Galaboda waterfall on August 1 was recovered from the Galaboda canal on Thursday (4).
It was reported that the victim had visited the waterfall and was swept away after the heavy rains experienced in the area that day.
She has been identified as Sithumini Suganya, a resident of Penideniya, Peradeniya. According to Police, the boy who accompanied Sithumini to the waterfall had survived.
Search operations conducted by the Police and the area residents to locate the missing girl were disrupted due to the heavy rains. Nawalapitiya Police are conducting investigations.
