Gionee has today launched its latest smartphone the Gionee A1 in India. The phone will be available exclusively on Amazon and pre-booking for A1 starts from March 31 onwards and customers who pre-book the phone will be offered a two-year warranty along with a JBL headphone or a Swiss Military Bluetooth Speaker. This new selfie-centric smartphone was showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona in February, along with A1 Plus.
Gionee A1 Specifications
The Gionee A1 comes with a 5.5-inch full-HD in-cell (1080×1920 pixels) display with a curved 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The phone is powered by a MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 processor and comes with 4GB RAM+64GB total storage, expandable upto 128GB via a microSD slot.
The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat Amigo 4.0 OS on top and is a dual sim smartphone that supports VoLTE. The Gionee A1 is powered by a mammoth 4010mAh battery, and the company claims that its new 18W ‘ultrafast charging’ can charge the batteries fully in 2 hours, quite a feat we would say.
Another highlight of the Gionee A1 is its camera. The phone comes with a 16MP front camera and f/2.0 aperture. There is also a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and f/2.0 aperture. The Phone also has a customized selfie flash, with the company promising ‘enhanced facial complexions.” The front camera also comes with beauty settings, which can be customized as per a user’s needs.

Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 4G VoLTE support and full metal body made out of A6000 aircraft grade material. The phone comes in three colors- Gray, Black, and Gold. The company has not shared the price of the phone as yet.
Should I buy Gionee A1 ?
Although the phone has been launched today, customers can buy the Gionee A1 only on Amazon.in starting 31st March, that’s when the pre-bookings start. Gionee is offering a two-year warranty along with a JBL headphone or a Swiss Military Bluetooth Speaker for the customers who pre-book the Gionee A1.
Now since the price part isn’t clear we will have to wait and see how much will that be in due course of time. However, we expect the price to be around Rs. 15,000 – Rs. 17,000 even at that price range it will face a stiff competition from the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Honor 6X.
