Ghosted (Pilot)

Posted on the 05 October 2017 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

Starring: Craig Robinson, Adam Scott, Ally Walker, Adeel Akhtar, Amber Stevens West

Plot: A security guard (Robinson) and a Barnes and Noble employee (Scott) are abducted by a top secret government agency and made to be agents for said agency which deals with paranormal activity.

What Works: Craig Robinson. Like, really. There are some cool ideas here, and I didn’t hate Adam Scott, but Craig Robinson is currently the best reason to watch this really disappointing show. He’s always good. He’s been better, but at least he makes this watchable.

What Doesn’t Work: Ghosted was one of my most anticipated shows on the new season. It didn’t work for me. The writing is pretty bad. The overall plot structure of the series is pretty bad. Our two leads are abducted right away, and made agents without any kind of training. That’s problematic, because there’s nothing to suggest Adam Scott’s character is ready for any kind of field duty. They have a weapons and tech creator… but our leads get no weapons or tech in the pilot. This show has a good premise with a talented cast, but has no idea what to do with them, or how to properly execute this formula.

Final Word: I might try one more episode of this, simply because I love Craig Robinson, but this is mostly dead on arrival for me. Believe me, it hurts me to write this. I was REALLY looking forward to Ghosted, and I’m very sad that the show isn’t very good. It should have been so much better.

Final Grade: C-
