Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) Review

Posted on the 25 March 2024 by Caz @LetsGoToTheMov7

The Spengler family return to where it all began at the New York City firehouse and must enlist the help of the original Ghostbusters, but when an ancient artifact is uncovered this unleashes a new evil force on the world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

When cracks begin to appear in the ghost containment unit based in the firehouse everything will be ok when Winston reveals that he has had a top-secret research lab all set up and that will allow them to contain many more ghosts, although it would take years for the transfer to the facility. Then enter the firemaster aka Nadeem who doesn’t know anything about well anything, but more in particular his family legacy.

It takes some building up to the different events unfolding along with Phoebe being benched due to her age and the major attempting to stop the Ghostbusters from well busting ghosts. This leads her to getting friendly with a young ghost and inadvertently gifting her the knowledge of the facility they have.

I had been looking forward to this film for quite some time, as from the trailer(s) it did look as though everything had been brought together nicely with the new Ghostbusters and the older guys making a comeback, but it just doesn’t quite hit as well as I had hoped. Don’t get me wrong it does try, however we end up with too many characters to squeeze into it all and quite frankly a couple of them could have been just left out (sorry Podcast and Lucky I mean you).

I can’t be the only one who was just waiting for Bill Murray to arrive so we could have some classic Venkman comments? I thought not, let’s face it on that front the film didn’t disappoint but we all wanted more. Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson both are highlights as well, 40 years after the original film was released.

So basically I wanted more and it feel a little bit flat at times, still more than watchable with some enjoyable moments but not at the level we have all been hoping for.
