Hi Huneybees,
GHOST the Musical Featured Hauntingly Good Vocals
"Ohhhhhh~~~~ My Love, My Darling, I've hungered for your touch...."
GHOST - A classic love story transcending above the supernatural boundaries got us all crying in the cinemas back in 1990. Before all that "You Jump, I Jump" drama, there was this movie that shot Demi Moore (Molly Jenson) and Patrick Swayze (Sam Wheat) into the limelight.

It's been 25 years since this duo made movie magic (and pottery!) together and watching this movie being made into a musical, stirs back those memories. GHOST the Musical Featured Hauntingly Good Vocals
Yes! There is a musical version of GHOST and this timeless love story is here in Singapore!

The Story
Sam Wheat (Liam Doyle), a young Wall Street success, and artist Molly Jenson (Lucie Jones) have just moved into a fabulous fix-up Brooklyn apartment and are edging toward marriage when Sam is murdered in a staged mugging.

Lucie Jones who plays Molly Jenson and Liam Doyle plays Sam Wheat.

Sam's ghost remains invisible yet unable to "see the light" and move on. He is however though capable of supernatural powers but powerless to reach out to the grief-stricken Molly - except through the intercession of phony medium Oda Mae Brown (Wendy Mae Brown), who feels panicked by the onset of true psychic powers.

Learning that his murder was planned by his money-laundering, two-faced colleague Carl (David Roberts), Sam must find a way to protect Molly from harm of being murdered too...

GHOST the Musical has brought an old time classic to new levels and added their own versions of comic, spiritual and romantic elements together with never before seen special effects on stage performance.

It is very refreshing to see how they portray ghosts on the stage, not only was the blue lighting cast on them them have a glittery feel, even their costumes were made to created a gradient faded greyscale feel.

Sam, as a ghost, walks through a solid door, inanimate objects take on a life of their own, spirits ascend to the heavens (or down to hell), subway passengers thrown in the air during a high speed train ride was all made possible, thanks to leading stage and film illusionist - Paul Kieve (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Matilda the Musical), Sam could pass through doors in his ghost mode!

Speaking of Sam, Liam Doyle may have just created a new character for us to fall in love with. He is definitely not even a copy of Patrick Swayze's portray and I was definitely drowning in his amazing vocals. He already blew me away when he started singing the re-organized "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers.
#GhostTheMusical opens this week and who would expect #Ghost would be depicted in this manner.... #UnchainedMelodyPlayingNonStopInMyHead #mastercardtheatres #MBS #sgbloggers #sgblogger #marinabaysands #LoveA video posted by Christina Chung 曾莉雯 (@huney_84) on Nov 5, 2015 at 7:05am PST

Paired with X Factor 2009 finalist - Lucie Jones (Molly), these 2 power vocals had me staying peeled to the show. Especially when Lucie did her solo - “With You” that yearning and being unable to come to terms to Sam's death, really had me tearing up. So touching, so alone...

That intense chemistry that Liam and Lucie had on stage got us blushing just that few steps away from them. Maybe it's the little sexual scenes, but it really felt we were watching 2 lovebirds singing their profession for each other's love, being in a world of their own, ignoring the "outside world"

That torned love of being unable to "see" each other, the longing and those sad emotions, really got me tearing up. They have really created GHOST version 2.0, which I want to see it being made into a movie too! :)

Of course, opposite the melancholy, humor had to be injected as well. Wendy Mae Brown really stole the show playing as Oda Mae Brown, the "phony" medium that was played by Whoopi Goldberg in the movie version.

Her colourful, fiesty, slight diva-ish atttitude together with the cheeky lines had me breaking out in non-stop laughter. Oh! How my tummy ached. Her solo scene where she sang and danced on the "LV luggage cases", proved her power station vocals and got everyone in the audience clapping in standing ovation.GHOST the Musical Featured Hauntingly Good Vocals

Of course, we also have to give credits to David Roberts as Carl. He was definitely giving Liam a run for his "vocals" during his one-man show, Seriously, what's with the villains always looking better? :XOkok, I can really go on and on about the musical, but I think I shouldn't be revealing too much already. Go on, catch GHOST the Musical before they leave Singapore. I think it really doesn't matter if you have watched or not watched the movie before. I liked this new age version as much as the movie and judging from the amount of laughter and applause from the audience, you should be making a date already! :)
