Getty Images and Candy Digital Collaborate to Launch NFTs

Posted on the 19 May 2022 by Nftnewspro

Candy Digital, the next generation digital collectable company, and Getty Images, the world’s premier publisher and marketplace for visual content, announced today a new multi-year partnership arrangement in which Candy Digital will be the exclusive producer and seller of Getty Images NFTs. Candy Digital’s first creative and cultural endeavour foreshadows a bold extension beyond sports into digital artifacts and experiences.

Getty Pictures and Candy Digital will collaborate to create a varied range of NFT products and collections based on Getty Photographs’ massive database of over 465 million photos, which includes over 135 million analog photographs from Getty Images’ photographic archive. This unmatched picture archive contains iconic and defining moments spanning 170 years of history, encompassing art, culture, music, international events, and more.

Many of Getty Shots’ analog archive pictures have never been viewed by the general public, and this collection includes very rare images by pioneering photographers. Getty Photos and Candy Digital will display old masterpieces with contemporary pictures in a variety of digital formats for consumers to discover and acquire for the first time as part of this new relationship.

Collectors of photography and NFTs will be able to purchase, sell, and trade authentic digital treasures via Candy’s Getty Images marketplace, which will handle both primary and secondary market transactions as well as credit card and cryptocurrency payments. The NFTs will be issued on the Palm blockchain, which is a scalable, green, Ethereum-compatible side-chain.

Getty Images CEO Craig Peters noted, “Innovation is integrated into the fabric of Getty Images with the finest content at our heart.” “We are ecstatic to be collaborating with Candy Digital to extend our service to the rapidly rising worldwide audience of NFT collectors, which presents enormous prospects for both the firm and the global photography community.”

“The invention of photography was a watershed moment in our ability to capture, preserve, and convey history.” Candy Digital CEO Scott Lawin stated, “We’re excited to be collaborating with Getty Photographs to produce NFT goods that visually bring these legendary and unique images from the prior two centuries to life for clients to enjoy and collect in a new digital format.” “As we grow and diversify beyond sports, this partnership is an exciting step forward in Candy’s development, positioning Candy as a leader in digital entertainment, culture, and art.”

Candy Digital’s initial product line, which will be released in the coming months, will be sourced from Getty Images-owned material. Each year, Getty Images adds more than 30 million new digital assets to its platform, allowing Candy Digital to produce new, more current collections over the length of this agreement.
