Gettin’ Spicy With Chicago Hot Sauce Fest

By Urbanmatter Chicago @UMatterChicago

Chicago Hot Sauce Fest was supposed to happen last month. The good news, it didn’t.

…Why is this good news? The first annual fest has added new vendors, new contests, and a new sponsor. What a difference a month makes!

Here are the highlights for your enjoyment:

20+ Vendors of Spicy Excellence

It’s not all about being the hottest. Chicago Hot Sauce Fest vendors pride themselves on providing a rainbow-like variety of tasty greatness. It’s not all hot sauce either. Take Rasta Bros. for example. These guys produce marinades, glazes, jellies, and sauce with a little authentic Jamaican kick to liven it up. Most other vendors have followed suit. Those that haven’t provide some top-notch fiery concoctions that will leave your taste buds screaming. Or crying. Or both.

Don’t worry though; people who eat spicy foods tend to live longer.

Contests

Have you pretty much lived your entire life waiting to hear the words “spicy pizza eating contest”? We have too. And you can rest assured that your dream will finally be fulfilled. Of course, Chicago Hot Sauce Fest wouldn’t be complete with a ghost pepper eating contest too. Think you’ve got what it takes?

$5 Donation

Entry to the Chicago Hot Sauce Fest is only a suggested donation of $5. Not bad considering the Spice Girls will be there! (Kidding.)

In all seriousness though, this is worth the five bucks.

Awards

Who doesn’t want to take home some of the best in show?

There are trophies, ribbons, plaques, the whole shebang. All wing sauces, hot sauces, jellies, jams & salsas can win. It’s time to banish the bland.

Chicago Hot Sauce Fest takes place on Saturday, August 29th (12pm-10:30pm) and Sunday, August 30th (12pm-10pm) at Belmont and Elston. Learn more at www.ChicagoHotSauceFest.com.

We’re feeling hot, hot, hot.
