Verdict: Cars, Cars and More Cars
Story: We start full on when our hero arrives home to find that his wife has been kidnapped. He receives a phone call telling him a set number of tasks and rules he has to follow to get her back alive. He gets put tested with his driving skills with daring chases around the city before being attempted jacked by a teenage girl, who turns out to be the owner of the car. The two are not left to continue the tasks set by the man on the phone and we have to see what the man wants and watch the two figure out who the man is.
As a film about just driving at high speeds this is pretty solid, but when it comes to an actual story well you should be able to work out what is happening very early on. It offers very little in words of originality but as an ABC action thriller it really does come off very nice. Just forget about any dialog and acting. Don’t expect a masterpiece; just go to enjoy yourself as the story will unfold for you. (6/10)
Actor Review
Ethan Hawke: Brent former racer who turned getaway driving, who gets pushed into completing a set of tasks to get his kidnapped wife back. Ethan shows off all his driving skills and none of his acting skills here. (4/10)
Selena Gomez: The Kid it’s her car they have to complete the tasks in and in time we find out she is more important to what is going on than first thought. Selena tries to breakout from the child actor curse and fails, but at least she gave it a go. (4/10)
Jon Voight: The Voice the man pulling the strings, making our hero go through all the tasks but he does have a bigger plan in place. Jon while only playing the voice over he grabs our attention with his instructions. (6/10)
Support Cast: Mainly the cops who can’t drive we don’t really meet too many supporting characters that are on screen of any time.
Director Review: Courtney Solomon – Courtney goes a solid direction for action but fails to grab our attention with any story. (5/10)
Action: Pretty much nonstop car chases, which all work nicely. (9/10)
Thriller: The chases do get more exciting as the film unfolds making you want to see what they will do next. (7/10)
Settings: The tight streets make for great setting but no iconic landmarks. (7/10)
Suggestion: This is one to try if you like your action, it won’t involve you needed to think too much, just switch off and enjoy. (Try It)
Best Part: Power planet escape.
Worst Part: Lack of dialog.
