Many people love the fit and feel of hard plastic earbuds, which explains why Apple's AirPods are so popular. It is therefore surprising that so few competitors are making a similar product. The vast majority of modern wireless earbuds - pretty much anything new from Anker, Edifier, Jabra, Samsung, Sony, and others - have an in-ear design with silicone earbuds.
Are AirPods your only option? Fortunately no: for a limited time and while stocks last, the OnePlus Buds are available for $ 59 - $ 20 less than the regular price and literally $ 100 less than the current generation AirPods. But not that you can routinely Find the latter for $ 129and they will be righteous $ 99 at Walmart on November 11th.
If Amazon is running out or selling ends before you catch it, OnePlus has also reduced the buds to $ 59.

CNET hasn't rated the OnePlus Buds, but the reviews I've seen elsewhere are mostly positive. (A couple of thousand Amazon customers have rated it 4 out of 5 stars.) The battery life is excellent, and the charging case is USB-C based (but doesn't support wireless charging). The earphones are IPX4 certified for water resistance; AirPods not.

They also offer ear detection, meaning they will automatically pause and resume playback when you take one out and put it back in. However, unless you pair them with a OnePlus phone, you won't be able to adjust the double-tapping controls.
