Power banks are a dozen (well, they're not that cheap, but they're so common), but I've been waiting for an innovative power bank to come onto the market that offers more than a few USB ports and one built-in LED flashlight. My wait could be over: the portable Pandora charger is a wall charger, a power bank with digital display and a wireless Qi charger in one. It just debuted at a retail price of $ 60, but you can get that Pandora Portable Power Charger for $ 36 if you use the exclusive code CNET at checkout. With the code you get an additional 10% discount on the introductory price of 40 USD.
This pocket-sized power bank is plugged directly into the wall like a charger. While the 8,000 mAh battery is charging, up to three devices can be charged simultaneously: two via the USB-A ports and a third via USB-C. If you separate it from the wall, it becomes a power bank that can charge up to four devices at a time - including a Qi-compatible wireless device. There is a digital display that also keeps you up to date on the battery level.
There is more. The USB-C port is bidirectional so you don't have to connect it to the wall. You can charge the battery from any USB-C source such as a laptop or a car charger. And Pandora supports fast charging - 18 watts via the USB-C port and up to 10 watts via the Qi Wireless Pad.
The whole thing is roughly a pocket size (2.3 inches square and an inch thick) and weighs 9 ounces. If your garbage drawer is not yet full of power banks, you should try them out.
