Love, love, love the impossibly romantic stories of Madame Bovary and Anna Karenina. Thought I would like The Awakening, too, as it was purported to portray a similar demise. Sadly, I thought it poor mimicry of my favorite two.
Unwilling to tackle the likes of Buddenbrooks, or The Magic Mountain, and searching for something appealing, I saw that Caroline had suggested Mrs. Sartoris. In fact, she's planning on reading it herself. And so, I will join her in reading about this Madame Bovary type set in modern Germany.
It sounds like just the ticket for chill November nights.
