George Hong of Guta.com Brokers DD.com Domain Name Sale

Posted on the 19 September 2015 by Worldwide @thedomains

In what very likely is another strong 7 figure domain name sale IMO, the domain name DD.com has been sold.

Two letter .com domain names are rare with only 676 of them but Double repeating two letter .com’s are even more scarce with only 26!

I reached out to George Hong, founder of Guta.com and he has confirmed the sale of DD.com but was not able to share any details of the domain name sale due to a non-disclosure agreement.

Guta.com was the exclusive broker of DD.com, which was owned by WebMagic Ventures, LLC which was founded by Greg McLemore.

As I reported earlier this week, it also appears that Bank Of America has sold the two letter .com domain name FF.com with that domain name transferring under whois privacy to eNom.

DD.com was registered at Tierranet Inc. The domain name whois records for DD.com changed to Caijun Xu of GoldenName on September 14, 2015. On or about September 19, 2015 the domain name has since transferred to eName.com under Hangzhou Xiaomai Financial Information Service Co., Ltd. and the email address of [email protected] and a message in whois to contact 4CN brokers.

With DD.com and FF.com both selling in about a weeks time, these two domain name sales could easily total in the $3-$8 Million range for the pair IMO. I would expect both to fetch a minimum of about $1.5M each, if not higher! It is not uncommon to see 2 letter .com domain names for sale at around $1M-$3M each and these can be random letters, not repeating.

FB.com still ranks as the highest reported 2 letter .com domain name sale that I am aware of at $8.5M (2010) with Facebook being the buyer. IG.com ranks second at $4.7M with IG Group LTD being the buyers (2013).

To note, a large amount of 2 letter .com domain names have been sold in 2015, with most moving into the Chinese market. Minimum wholesale has continued to climb this year and I would estimate it being closer to $600,000 USD now (up from my estimated $550K), if not a little higher.

I have reported on TheDomains many 2 letter .com domain sales fairly recently with another repeater back in July 2015 with LL.com changing ownership,  We.com selling this year, TN.com being purchased by Tuft & Needle recently, Yahoo! selling AV.com and many, many more included within Domain Movers!

Great year to be a LL .com domain name owner!
