George Clooney & Wife Amal Donate $500 To Parkland Students DC March
George Clooney and his wife, Amal are showing their support for the students of Parkland, Florida.

George Clooney and Amal Clooney  announced Tuesday that they will be marching in support of student survivors of the Parkland, Fla. shooting, according to a statement from George Clooney via his rep Stan Rosenfield.

Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School,” the statement reads. “Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country, and in the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we’re donating $500,000 to help pay for this groundbreaking event. Our children’s lives depend on it.”

The March 24 rally is organized by five teenagers who survived the Valentine’s Day shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School — classmates Jacqueline Coren, Emma Gonzalez, Cameron Kasky, David Hogg, and Alex Wind — in collaboration with the nonprofit Everytown for Gun Safety.

According to a mission statement for March For Our Lives, students across the country will converge on Washington next month to say the nation can no longer wait to tackle issues of school safety and gun control reform. They’re asking that like-minded folks who can’t make it to the nation’s capital stage solidarity marches in their own communities. “Every kid in this country now goes to school wondering if this day might be their last. We live in fear,” the March For Our Lives website says. “It doesn’t have to be this way. Change is coming. And it starts now, inspired by and led by the kids who are our hope for the future. Their young voices will be heard.”
