Geetha Film Distribution, distribution wing of Geetha Arts have reportedly bought the entire Andhra Pradesh rights of Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Zanjeer remake. They have also taken the Nizam rights of the Hindi version. The film is a remake of Hindi film of the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan’s Zanjeer already had a Telugu remake in the past starring NTR called Nippulanti Manishi too.
Title for the Telugu version of the film has still not been decided but sources say it could be an old Chiranjeevi’s film name. Although there were reports of Merupu title being reused for this project, it seems that idea has been dropped, at least for the time being.
Zanjeer is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. It stars Priyanka Chopra in the female lead. Sanjay Dutt, Prakash Raj, Srihari, Mahi Gill etc play important roles.
