The Interior Ministry has recommended a ban on 54 Chinese mobile applications, including the popular Garena Free Fire game. Interestingly Garena Free Fire based Singapore and developers are not from China. This game is one of the most downloaded games in India last year, and has taken space made by the pub Mobile after being banned on September 2020. This application has been removed from the Google Play Store and the App Store in India, as IndianExpress .com has reported Sunday.
According to PTI, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) formally issue a notification that prohibits the operation of this application in India. By 2020, the government has also forbid tiktok and other popular short video applications from China. When Tiktok was banned on June 29, 2020, the list included around 59 applications in total. Other popular applications in the list are Shareit, Shein (Fashion and Application sites), Xiaomi Mi Community, Clash of Kings, Weibo, etc
MEITH has prohibited previous applications under Section 69A from the Information Technology Act, which states that the government has “the power to issue directions for interception or monitoring or decryption of any information through computer resources.” This is usually when the government is “satisfied that it is necessary or wise to do for the interests of Indian sovereignty or integrity, Indian defense, state security, friendship relations with foreign countries or public order or to prevent the incitement of the violation commission that can be recognized related to the above or for violation investigations whatever. “
For Tiktok and Pubg, the government said that this was prohibited “considering the nature of the threat that arises” as “they are involved in activities that are detrimental to Indian sovereignty and integrity, country defense, state security and public orders.” Pubg is prohibited from September 2020, along with 117 other applications. The third list of applications is prohibited from coming out in November 2020, which includes a total of 43 applications. Aliexpress is the name that is most prominent in a certain list.
