The year is almost at an end, and before I ring in the New Year with some good friends and some....refreshing beverages, I thought I would produce one more edition of Gaming on a Budget to round out the year. Hopefully these articles have given you at least on quality gaming experience for cheap this year. If not, wait until next year, there will be plenty more to come.The Steam Holiday sale continues to roll this week, making my job all the easier. This week, I'm recommending Psychonauts, available for only $2.49 on steam(regular $9.99).
There is little that I can do to describe Psychonauts that will really do it justice. all I can say is it is one of these games you just need to play, immediately. If you pick up a copy of this game, what you'll find is one of the most unique action platformers you will ever find, and a quality of writing that is simply fading out of video games these days.
The story follows an aspiring psychic, Razputin, as he attempts to overcome a group of brain harvesters that has taken control of the training facility for psychic secret agents. If that sentence alone hasn't at least peaked your interest, there is nothing more that I can do. All you need to know is that this story is born out of the strange and brilliant mind of Tim Schafer, who for the record has made a whole bunch of games that you really like.
So play Psychonauts, you can't go wrong. Until then, Happy New Year, and here's to a good 2013. Have a drink for me.
