Wildlife officers arrested a businessman and one of his workers from the Sirambhiadiya area in Puttalam after finding a stock of game meats and illegal shotguns, air rifles and other weapons in an estate belonging to him.
It is said that the owner of the land is a road contractor while the other person is the one who acts as a watcher of his land.
The officers had raided the estate on a tip-off. They had found several weapons and a stock of wild animal meat from one of the sheds in the estate.
It has been confirmed in the investigations that the owner of the land has given all the relevant firearms and gunpowder to the guard. The officers are conducting further investigations.
