Attempting to quantify the quality of offensive-zone pass and shot-attempts
These graphs are an attempt to display a player's ability to create goals by way of an offensive-zone pass or shot.
The blue line shows how many assists a player accumulates for every attempted pass in the offensive-zone, while the red line shows how many goals a player scores for every attempted shot (either blocked or missed the net).
ASSISTS PER-ATTEMPTED OFFENSIVE-ZONE PASS
It is important to note that Tomas Kaberle, Jarred Tinordi, Nathan Beaulieu, and Devon Drewiske have a limited number of offensive-zone pass and shot attempts. As such, their numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
Five Montreal defensemen attempted over 130 offensive-zone passes. Among them, Alexei Emelin produced the most assists per-attempted offensive-zone pass. Surprisingly, Andrei Markov produced the fewest assists per-attempted offensive-zone pass.
Among forwards with at least 130 attempted passes in the offensive-zone, it's Alex Galchenyuk who produced the most assists per-attempted pass.  Other forwards with high numbers within this category include; Brendon Gallagher and Lars Eller.
Tomas Plekanec was third among forwards in attempted offensive-zone passes, but produced only the 12th most assists per-attempted pass.
 GOALS PER-ATTEMPED SHOT
Five Montreal defensemen attempted over 100 shots. Among them, PK Subban scored the most goals per-attempted shot, while Francis Bouillon scored the fewest goals per-attempted shot.
Seven Montreal forwards attempted more than 100 shots. Among them, Galchenyuk scored the most goals per-attempted shot; making the Habs rookie tops in both of the categories displayed in this post. Other forwards with impressive numbers include David Desharnais and Brandon Prust.
Brian Gionta, and Max Pacioretty were among those forwards who managed the fewest goals per-attempted shot.

For reference, I've also included the number of attempted offensive-zone passes and shots for each player:
