Amidst all the leaks and rumors of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung is all set to relaunch the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 as Galaxy Note FE in Korea on 7th July. The original Note 7 was launched in August 2016, and initially received widespread praise however later turned out to be Company’s biggest embarrassment.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Samsung Galaxy Note FE or Fan Edition will be launched at a price tag of KRW 700,000 (around $615). Samsung plans to sell a limited number of devices in South Korea.
The new edition or Note FE comes with different components and a stripped down the battery to ensure no more explosions. There is no word as of now regarding the global availability of the new Galaxy Note FE.
The original Note 7 came with a beautiful 5.7-inch Quad HD display and was very well received initially. Things change drastically once the devices started to explode due to the defective batteries. The phone was since recalled and reissued, however, it didn’t go as expected. Samsung did conduct an investigation and accepted that batteries made in two different factories had various manufacturing issues.
Samsung has indeed recovered very well after the Note 7 disaster and the S8 and S8 Plus have received an amazing response in the markets. The original Note 7 came with a beautiful 5.7-inch Quad HD display and is now coming back with an apt name “Fans Edition”.
With the Note 8 launch just a couple of months away, Samsung will have to ensure that there is not a single case of battery defect. Else, the decision of relaunching Note 7 will turn out to be a disaster for the company.
