Funny: Company Sends Out PR Announcing It Renewed Its Domain For 5 Years As a “Bold Move”

Posted on the 24 October 2013 by Worldwide @thedomains

I saw this press release today and thought it was pretty funny:

Hmeet.com has renewed its domain name to 2018 as a bold move to let members know that the organization is here to stay to continue to provide the services on which thousands of them rely. ”

““Hmeet.com wants the world to know that we will continue our business and all people with a sexually transmitted disease are welcome to join our site. Current members on our site don’t need to worry about whether or not we will shut down because we will be with them forever.” These were the encouraging words recently expressed by Mr. Ivan, the owner of Hmeet.com.

As all of us in the domain space know it costs around $10 a year to renew a domain, so the company clearly spend more sending out the press release than it did by spending $50 to renew its domain for five years.

Of course the company could have renewed the domain for 10 years until 2023 for just $50 more.

If the story isn’t funny enough, as I check the whois for the domain is still shows it expiring in January 2014:
